Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Quality Specialists

Humidity, filtration and contamination — solved by diagnosing the cause rather than selling a device.

Dust particles visible in a shaft of daylight in a living room

Indoor air quality in Florida is mostly a humidity story. Air held above roughly 60% relative humidity supports mould and dust mites regardless of how clean the house is, and the most common cause of a house that cannot hold humidity down is an air conditioner that is too large for it — one that cools the air quickly, satisfies the thermostat, and shuts off before it has removed any real moisture. No filter, purifier or UV lamp fixes that. Correct sizing and run time does.

So we diagnose before we specify. That means measuring humidity and temperature, checking system run times and sizing, looking at duct leakage that may be pulling humid attic air into the return, inspecting the coil and drain pan, and only then talking about filtration, UV, ventilation or dehumidification. Sometimes the answer is a media filter and a corrected charge. Sometimes it is a duct sealing job. We would rather tell you that than sell you equipment that treats a symptom.

Signs of an air quality problem

  • The house feels cold and clammy at the same time
  • Musty smells, especially when the system first starts
  • Visible mould on registers, around vents or on window frames
  • Allergy or asthma symptoms that are worse indoors
  • Condensation on windows or interior surfaces
  • Dust that returns within a day of cleaning

What an assessment covers

  • Temperature and relative humidity measurement in multiple locations
  • System sizing and run-time analysis — the usual root cause
  • Duct leakage and return-air inspection
  • Coil, drain pan and blower compartment inspection
  • Filtration assessment against actual static pressure
  • Recommendations ranked by what will actually change the measurement

Indoor Air Quality — common questions

Will an air purifier fix my humidity problem?

No. Purifiers address particulates, not moisture. If the house is humid, the answer is in system sizing, run time, duct leakage or dehumidification — and we will show you the readings behind that.

Do UV lights work?

They are effective at keeping the coil and drain pan clear of biological growth, which is a real benefit in Florida. They are not a whole-house air treatment, and we will not sell them as one.
