Furnace Repair

Igniters, flame sensors, limits and heat exchangers — diagnosed with safety checked first.

An electric heating element inside an air handler cabinet

Furnaces are less common in Florida than heat pumps and electric strips, but they exist — more so in Central Florida than on the coast — and when they fail they fail along a well-worn path. Hot-surface igniters crack. Flame sensors film over and stop proving flame, so the burner lights and immediately shuts down. Limit switches trip because airflow has fallen. Pressure switches and inducer motors fail and lock out the sequence before it starts.

Furnace work carries a safety dimension that electric heat does not, so diagnosis starts there: heat exchanger condition, combustion, venting and safety controls. A furnace that heats but has a compromised heat exchanger is not a repair job, and we will say so plainly rather than patch around it. Where the fault is a genuine component failure, most are same-visit repairs.

Common furnace faults

  • The burner lights and then shuts down after a few seconds
  • Clicking with no ignition at all
  • Short cycling on the high-limit switch
  • A blower that runs continuously without heat
  • Soot, scorching or an unusual smell around the unit

What the repair includes

  • Safety-first inspection: heat exchanger, combustion and venting
  • Hot-surface igniter and flame sensor service or replacement
  • Pressure switch, inducer motor and limit switch testing
  • Control board and sequence-of-operation diagnosis
  • Airflow and temperature rise verified against the nameplate

Furnace Repair — common questions

What if the heat exchanger is cracked?

We will show you what we found and recommend replacement rather than a workaround. A compromised heat exchanger is a safety issue, not a maintenance item.
